Backflow burner — Buddha & lights

A burner shaped to take backflow cones: the smoke runs down the relief and spreads in a sheet across the base.

The motif. Depictions of the Buddha follow precise codes: the position of the hands, or mudra, changes the meaning entirely.

The decoration. This model shows a Buddha & lights: the relief is molded and then patinated by hand, and the smoke running down the slopes finishes bringing it alive.

Use & upkeep. To be used with backflow cones only, on a stable surface and away from draughts. Clean dry; smoke residue lifts off with a soft brush.
