What tradition says. Long called the "stone of opportunity", tradition links it to luck and to the impulse to begin again. It is credited with a calming influence on the heart chakra.
Use & upkeep. Held in the right hand, one bead slipped between thumb and middle finger at each recitation, never crossing the guru bead. Store it coiled rather than hanging, so the thread does not stretch.
