What tradition says. Used as a scrying mirror since the Aztecs, tradition credits it with reflecting back what you would rather not see.

In practice. On its own or composed with other pieces, it inhabits a console, a bookcase or a windowsill. Set it on a stable surface: the narrow base makes the piece sensitive to sideways knocks.
