The stones

• Labradorite. A dark gray that ignites with blue, green or gold as soon as you tilt it — labradorescence, spectacular and fleeting.
• Amethyst. A violet quartz whose shade runs from pale mauve to deep purple, often stronger at the tip of the crystal than at its base.
